IRON SAW BLADE
Another Approach (SWI), Blame Zeus (PRT),
The Kate Effect (SWI)
Presented by Rockfact Music Club & Jaunty Productions
Rockfact Music Club, Münchenstein, Switzerland – 28.03.2026
It’s been a month since the Swiss bands Another Approach and The
Kate Effect played at the Rockfact Music Club in Münchenstein. 30 days
later, both bands returned to the same venue. The Portuguese metal band
Blame Zeus was featured as a special guest on the lineup. They were on a
short tour of Switzerland, having stopped the previous day in the town of
Rorschach in the canton of St. Gallen. The next day, Münchenstein was on
the intinerary. The Hunt had to cancel their performance due to illness.
The doors opened at 7 p.m. due to a delay, and The Kate Effect’s band
banner was visible as you entered the club. Fifty minutes later, the show
began. The Kate Effect from the Canton of Zurich took the stage. The
band from Wädenswil started with “Worth Living For“. Unlike their previous performance, almost all the members were
wearing T-shirts with the bandname and headbands with the band’s name on them, except for guitarist Martin, who was
wearing a T-shirt with the bandname and a cap, and drummer Pascal Maurer (Silent Circus), who played in undershirt
and a headband. During “Do Or Die,” Lukas announced that it wasn’t a political song, but was directed against Nazis
because of their views. “Numbers” criticized rampant capitalism, but Lukas replied, “Money is important, but you can do
something positive with it by going to the merchandise stand and the bar to show your support.” We had to count down
together from 8 to 0 and jump on command. On top of that, breakdowns flattened us, and there was no time to catch
our breath. It was full throttle and nonstop action, and the mix of melodic death metal, thrash metal, and 2000s
hardcore kept us moving. Although the stage was very cramped, guitarist Marco “Rada” Radamonti (With One Word),
Martin “März” Kubli, and bassist Severin Bruttin managed to change positions without bumping into each other. There
were also guitar duels between Severin and Marco, and between Severin and Martin. It was fun to watch the five-piece
from the town of Wädenswil, and the final song, “Run,” was dedicated to the Rockfact team and the audience. After 45
minutes, Lukas, Marco, Martin, Severin, and Pascal took their bows and received a standing ovation. They made a great
impression with their second performance in the canton of Basel-Country.

There was a brief intermission; the stage was rearranged, and the Blame Zeus banner was visible. Then it was Blame
Zeus’s turn. I hadn’t heard of them at all and was looking forward to their performance. Besides, bands from this
Southwestern European country don’t perform often in Switzerland, which made me even more curious. A smart move
for the intro “not staying alive” was choosing the Bee Gees hit “Staying Alive” from the 1983 American dance drama film
of the same name, directed by Sylvester Stallone. It transitioned right into “No.” The band from Portugal, led by singer
Sandra Oliveira, performed with conviction and passion. Sandra poured a lot of emotion and facial expression into her
singing, and you could feel the emotion in every syllable. Guitarists Paulo Silva and Thiago Lascasas kicked ass with their
precise playing. Bassist Bruno Branco was completely absorbed in the music, as if in a trance. Drummer Ricardo Silveira
provided rhythmic precision behind the kit. The volume gradually increased during “Strong & Faithful,”—what is known as
a “crescendo”—and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately, Sandra’s voice got a little lost in the mix, but the two sound
engineers at the controls were able to correct this and give the vocals more weight. This evening was a great
opportunity to promote their fourth album, “Laudanum.” After “Penitent” came a thank-you note from Sandra and a
transition from “Asleep In The Stars” to the song “The Void.” The last track “Burning Fields” came up with a massive wall
of guitar and blew everything away. The entire set was played, and after 40 minutes, the Portuenses bid farewell to the
audience.

Headliner Another Approach from the city of Winterthur, took the stage at 10 p.m. “Scarytale” was the first song they
played. Bassist Claudio Ramsauer left the stage during “Anaesthesia”, ran through the crowd, climbed onto the bar
counter at Rockfact, and continued playing there before returning to the stage. Cool move and no Hawaiian shirt. Tom
Selleck, who played Magnum, would still‘ve been proud if he‘d seen him perform that way. A new song“Shattered Eyes”,
released two weeks ago, was introduced. The lighting kept changing during the performance. It was adjusted to the
mood of the songs, it was never distracting - it just fit. Their progressive metal, blending metalcore, electronic elements,
and quiet instrumental passages, sounded powerful thanks to the sound engineers’ excellent mixing. Singer Jan Brasser
(Ophelias Eye) switched between clean vocals and growls, impressing the crowd with his emotion and expressive facial
expressions. Breakdowns were another key element of their sound and flattened us. They also played another new song,
“Intrusive Thoughts.” Guitarist Oliver Kürzi impressed with his guitar solos and let bassist Claudio take a turn on his
instrument, allowing him to play the guitar with his fingers at the same time. It looked brilliant and simple, but required
a lot of concentration and trust. Another eye-catcher was guitarist Oliver’s stylish pig-shaped Crocs. It’s not often that
band members wear this type of shoes. Two Pokémon stuffed animals were thrown into the audience during the mash-
up at the latter song featuring “Incomplete” by the Backstreet Boys, “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child, “Sing Hallelujah” by
Dr. Alban, and the Pokemon theme. Jan announced “Now comes a longer song from our first album”, and “Still Alive” was
played. The performance was so good that the crowd demanded an encore. For this reason, the hit “The Kids Aren’t
Alright” by the American Punk rock band The Offspring was played. “Ocean” served as the second encore, marking the
end of the show. Jan, Claudio, Cyril, and Oliver took a bow and received a round of applause. The 85-minute live
spectacle made a great impression of their third performance in the canton of Basel-Country.

You could buy CDs and T-shirts at the merchandise stand after these performances, and chat with the band members. I
let this thoroughly enjoyable evening wind down in a relaxed atmosphere before getting into my car and heading home
on a cold night.
Many thanks to Jaunty Productions for this interesting and varied program.
