Black Diamonds (SWI), Fire Rose (SWI)
A new sound was spread throughout the world from the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, California, USA by bands like Mötley Crüe, Poison, Ratt, Quiet Riot etc. in the 80’s. The rise of Grunge in the beginning of the 90’s led to the death of the „Hair Metal“ scene. However in the last decade bands emerged that brought back this „Sunset Strip“ vibe. One is called Black Diamonds, and anyone who has had the opportunity to experience them live will have felt this important element. They were able to kick off the Baden in Blut 2025 by winning the Blood Battle at SAK Wasserwerk in Lörrach. A dream came true when a concert at Rockfact Music Club was announced. I couldn't miss this under any circumstances and got myself a ticket. The doors opened at 7 pm

and the local act Fire Rose was on stage at 8:10 pm. In the past, they convinced me with their live show everytime. The first song „Get It All“ was played after a bagpipe intro. It started quickly because this burning hard rock / heavy metal mix hit real hard. Singer Philipp Meier was present in excellent shape and hit every note precisely. Guitar player Simon Giese kicked ass with guitar solos. His brother Florian Giese did a great job as rhythm guitarist and sought contact with him for guitar duels time and time again. The guys were present with passion and joy by a good atmosphere in the audience. A new song „Stronger“ got played and arouse desire for a new album. The last one „Blood On Your Hands“ was released in 2023. Every member was in motion and sought contact with the concertgoers. Simon, Flo and Janick supported Philipp with background vocals. „Heroes“ was dedicated to all spectators who showed up at this concert. It ended with the American Football anthem „Touchdown“ that was dedicated to the headliner Black Diamonds. Philipp, Simon, Flo, Janick and drummer Simon received a lot of applause for their great appearance. The intro began to play at 9:30 p.m. The band members from the St. Gallen Rhine Valley came on stage and kicked off the show with “Hell And Back.” Singer Mich, sporting short hair, was clearly delighted to be on stage and dazzled with his dexterity on the rhythm guitar. His lead guitarist colleague Chris impressed with guitar solos and poses. Bassist Andi provided the groove. He thanked the late KISS member Ace Frehley for the song “Black Diamonds,” including his guitar solo. This inspired them to choose their band name. Andi, Chris, and Mich changed sides many times that the audience could see them from different angles. Mich and Chris also stood on the Black Diamonds boxes, white light flashed and added excitement to the show. Gary Moore's “Out In The Fields,” a well-known rock hit, was played before the acoustic guitars took center stage. It became quieter with “Pieces Of A Broken Dream” and “Only For A While.” You could take a deep breath and get to know a different musical side. Then Andi left the stage with Mich. Lead guitarist Chris showwed off his skills as a guitar wizard with guitar solos, and drummer Manu backed him up. Then Andi and Mich came back and continued with the question, “Do we want to go to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Church together on Sunday?” “Yes” was the answer from the audience, and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Religion” was played. After ‘Thrillride’ and “Lonesome Road,” “Paradise” should‘ve ended the performance. The band members said goodbye and the lights went out. This was met with boos, because the performance was so well received and no one wanted the show to end. Their persistence paid off, because Andi, Michi, Chris, and Manu returned to the stage immediately. The encores “Reaching For The Stars” and the absolute anthem “We Want To Party” rounded off the great performance. The clock showed 10:50 p.m. and the members received standing ovations for this crazy mix of catchy melodies, hard rock, and eyeliner. The Rheintalers staged the hard rock of the 80s perfectly and made an excellent impression at their live premiere in the canton of Basel-Country. Hopefully there‘ll be more concerts in this part of the country in the future. The band members took time patiently for each individual. That’s positive to me and shows true appreciation. Many thanks to Madeleine Fuhrer from Jaunty Productions for hosting this great rock night at the Rockfact Music Club in Münchenstein. Livereport from Dominic Latscha
