IRON SAW BLADE
Edenbridge (AUT), Deep Sun (SWI), DevilsBridge (SWI)
Presented by Rockfact Music Club & Jaunty Productions
Rockfact Music Club, Münchenstein, Switzerland – 02.05.2024
The Austrian symphonic metal band Edenbridge celebrates their 25th Anniversary
this year. A great event in this day and age where groups often disband early. They
embarked on a tour through Germany & Austria with two gigs in Switzerland. I was
pleased when a date at the venue Rockfact Music Club was announced. The two Swiss support bands Deep Sun and
DevilsBridge accompanied them. Edenbridge did a concert in Münchenstein last year and convinced me. That’s why I
decided to participate in this event. When I arrived in front of the club, there were already some spectators waiting to get
in. The doors release time was 6:30 pm. You could visit the merchandise stands of the bands after entry and get an
overview. It started at 7:20 pm with the first support act. DevilsBridge from city of Wil, canton of St. Gallen opened the
evening with the first song „Instinct“ after an intro. Singer Dani Nell in a dark outfit put all her emotions into the vocals
and hit every note with precision. Further she often sought contact with the other band members time and time again
and kneed on stage to add more drama to the performance. Lead guitarist Tom White kicked ass with guitar solos and
appeared confident. His guitar colleague Vany Shade did the same. The music was powerful and hard but accessible at
the same time. There was a lot of movement on stage because Vany, Tom and Steve D.R.T. changed positions again and
again. Their drummer J.C. Daisy weighed in the rhythm behind the glazing. The musical focus was on the debut "Sense
Of" from 2022, but with "Endless Restless Heart", a song from the EP "Endless Restless" from 2020 was also included.
The Eastern Swiss surprised me with positively their modern metal because they were unknown to me. Time went by
quickly and Dani, Tom, Vany, Steve and J.C said goodbye to the audience with the last song „Time“ after 40 minutes.
They took a bow and received applause for their good show.

A short break occured and the Deep Sun banners were set up on stage. I've seen this symphonic metal band several
times before and they always leave a great impression. To my surprise, they were on stage at 8:15 pm and an intro with
the title "Prologue" heralded the start of the appearance. Tobias Brutschi took his place behind the drums and the
remaining members joined in one after the other. It started at full throttle with "Dreammaster" from the album
"Dreamland" from 2022. This song is simply a live grenade and made the audience dance and headbang. Singer Debora
Lavagnolo was glad and radiated a lot of positive energy. Moreover she wore a a black stage outfit with a short cape. She
often sought contact with bassist Angelo Salerno and guitarist Erik Dummermuth. He showed off his dexterity with guitar
solos. Keyboardist Thomas Hiebaum provided the beautiful background music. Clapping along was the order of the day
here, as the music invited and Debora encouraged the audience to contribute. This was done without hesitation. The
concentrated energy of the symphonic titans caught the Rockfact and caused a lot of movement and enthusiasm in front
of the stage. "Eternal Love" was dedicated to love. I’ve to acknowledge how Debora manages to meet the different vocal
ranges. You can feel her classical vocal training in every note. She also manages to interact with the spectators and win
over. The show ended after 40 minutes with the last song „Euphoria“ and an outro. They bowed and were adopted with
applause. The peformance was amazing.

Another brief interruption occured and the Deep Sun banners were replaced by the ones of headliner Edenbridge. An
intro rang out and vapor came out of a device at 9:10 pm. The band members came on stage one after the other and
"Perennial Dreams" from the third album "Aphelion" opened the show. Singer Sabine Edelsbacher presented herself in a
good mood and with a good vocal performance. She announced at the beginning that two medleys would be played
tonight with three songs and one song from each of their eleven albums. The guitarists Sven Sevens and Arne "Lanvall"
Stockhammer were brilliant with their riffs and often changed positions on stage with bassist Steve Hall to show
themselves to the audience from a different angle. This was well-received and reflected in applause. Their music also
contained progressive tendencies why their style is also known as "Angelic Bombastic Metal". There was a lot of dancing
when "On The Other Side" by "Dynamind" was played, because the Irish folk beat left no one cold. This song was about
the inner voice that we should listen to. The song about the emperor running around naked in the palace followed with
„Hall of Shame“. Sabine also explained the meaning of the band's name. It‘s a metaphor about the way to the Garden of
Eden with the heart. "Lanvall" introduced "Forever Shine On" with the statement "In 1999 you all would‘ve taken out your
lighters, we are in 2024 now so please take out your cell phones and activate your flashlights". The audience waved their
cell phones back and forth with the lights on. "At First Light" from the current album "Shangri-La" was played. After
"Tauerngold", they played "Paramount", the favorite song of the fans. After a medley, all the members left the stage. The
encore calls made them return and the two encores "Starlight Reverie" and "Higher" were played. The entire set was
performed within 105 minutes. Sabine, Arne, Steve, Sven and Johannes took a photo with the audience, bowed to
enthusiastic fans and received a lot of applause.

As beautiful as the evening had started, it was over too soon. However, the entertainment value was consistently high
and the audience joined in with the bands' performances. It was simply great. Bernie Scholz was responsible for the
sound as mixer and Stefan Walker took care of the lighting. Many thanks for your contributions.
Another thanks to organizer Madeleine Fuhrer from Jaunty Productions. You gave us a wonderful Thursday evening.
The following day, the tour made a stop in the city of Wil in canton of St. Gallen. The concert on May 4th in Hanover,
Germany was canceled.
